What we collect

The desk form asks for your name, email, the sitting you are considering, a short description of your reading, an optional preferred date, and a message. If you later book a sitting we also keep the fee note, the shelf agreed, attendance, and the path booklet or checkpoint mark-up. We do not ask for resident registration numbers, payment card numbers on this website, seed phrases, or private keys. If you send key material anyway, we delete it and ask you to write again without it.

Why we use it

We use the information to answer the request, prepare a fee note, deliver the sitting you agreed, and keep a record of what was studied in case you return for a checkpoint. The legal bases we rely on are your request to enter a sitting, the contract when a sitting is confirmed, and our legitimate interest in keeping an accurate shelf record. Where Korean law requires consent for a particular use, we ask for it separately.

Retention

Unanswered inquiries and notes that never become a sitting are deleted after 24 months. Confirmed sittings, fee notes, and booklets are kept for five years so a returning reader can be matched to the shelves already covered, and so we can meet bookkeeping duties. You may ask us to delete study notes earlier if no legal hold applies; fee records required for tax may remain for the statutory period.

Sharing

Staff who prepare your sitting can read the notes: Minseo Park, Haru Kim, and Junho Lee. We use an email provider to send replies. We do not sell personal information. We disclose information if Korean law, a court, or a competent authority requires it.

International transfers

The reading room and the controller are in the Republic of Korea. Email and website hosting may store messages on servers outside Korea, including in countries that do not have an adequacy decision identical to Korea’s. Where that happens we use contractual safeguards available to us and limit the content to what the sitting requires. You may ask where a particular message is stored.

Your rights

Under the Personal Information Protection Act you may request access, correction, deletion, and a stop on processing, and you may withdraw consent where processing was based on consent. We respond within the period Korean law requires. You may also lodge a complaint with the Personal Information Protection Commission. These rights do not erase fee records we must keep.

Children

Sittings are arranged with adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
